Why Refer to Pediatric Neurosurgery?According to guidelines established by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the following conditions are best treated by a pediatric neurosurgeon:
A Multispecialty Approach to Care
Our team features a board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon and a board-certified neurosurgeon with special interests in pediatric and adult neurosurgery; two physician assistants; two registered nurses with neurosurgery experience; a clinical pharmacy specialist; and a registered medical assistant.
We work closely with other departments including radiology, neurology, orthopaedics, oncology, physiatry, physical therapy, anesthesiology and child life, to provide comprehensive and kid-friendly care.
Our pediatric neurosurgical team partners with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital to care for children with spasticity through the Advanced Management of Pediatric Spasticity program. The program also includes the Motion Analysis Center, which provides analysis using state-of-the-art technology to measure gait, muscle activity patterns, joint movements and other factors. We then provide the referring physician a video of the patient evaluation, interpretation of results and recommendations for treatment.
